This spring, GSSEF is excited to announce the national collaboration with Penguin Random House and former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama to introduce the Becoming Me program, inspired by themes from Mrs. Obama’s Becoming: Adapted for Young Readers. Through the program, girls will unlock the power of their unique stories and embark on journeys to becoming their best selves.
Join with Girl Scouts from across the country for a members-only virtual event with Mrs. Obama on Thursday, May 6, to kick off Becoming Me! The event will feature a conversation between Girl Scouts and Mrs. Obama during which she’ll explore the themes in Becoming: Adapted for Young Readers and how they relate to Girl Scouts’ and young people’s experiences today.
Following the event, girls can go on to earn badges and explore who they want to become. Drawing on Girl Scouts’ programming – which includes over 300 skill-building badges – the six to eight-week Becoming Me program series is built on 18 badges that explore key themes in Becoming: Adapted for Young Readers.
