Headquartered in the Kravis Center, in the cultural heart of Palm Beach County, lies a hidden gem for nurturing children’s self-esteem and musical talents: Young Singers of the Palm Beaches.

Young Singers of the Palm Beaches (YSPB) is a community youth choir that has been enriching the lives of children and enriching our community since 2003. Founded by three local music educators who recognized the need for quality choral instruction and training, Young Singers has grown into a viable force in the choral community.

For its young members (in grades 2 through 12), the benefits of belonging to this community choir can best be noted by its singers and families.

A current member of the Bel Canto Choir at YSPB told us: “Singing is something that I love to do, and I love singing at YSPB because it’s just like a big family there. Plus our concerts are amazing.”

Kai Li Fouts Jette, who has three children currently in Young Singers, notes: “Grateful to have YSPB in our lives. It is home for my three children, and they are nurtured, loved and encouraged to be themselves by everyone there.”

Alumna Tristan Butler joined YSPB when he was 9 years old. After being in the choir for 9 years he graduated high school with this to say: “The knowledge that I gained for the conductors gave me a firm foundation… and YSPB has provided me with incredible, life-changing opportunities like studying with the best vocal coaches, singing in showcases and competitions nationally, performing for and learning from celebrities like Bernie Taupin, Michael Feinstein, and Ethan Bortnick, and making life-long friends.”

August 22nd will be the beginning of season 18 for the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches, and the choir is welcoming new members. Children ages 7 to 18, regardless of their musical experience, can audition to become a member. There are seven choirs, divided by grade level, that members are separated into. After rehearsing and holding classes virtually for over 16 months, the choir’s weekly rehearsals will be once again held in person at the Cohen Pavilion of the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach.

The Young Singers self-produce and perform together in two major concerts annually on the main stage of the Kravis Center, and continually perform out in our community at both public and private events, and in collaboration with other organizations such as The Palm Beach Opera.
