In days gone by, etiquette was taught in the family. Families sat down to dinner together (“Children must be excused before they may leave the table”); entertained guests together (“Children must be seen and not heard”); and went places together (“Sit up straight, children”). Families taught decorum and, by example, gracious hospitality.
Today, the face of the family has changed. Along with leisure life, many daily family occasions have disappeared. Our lifestyle has become less formal, more casual. It is often the exception when families sit down at the table for a leisurely meal with everyone present. We have become a fast-food generation. It is for this reason that Social Graces Etiquette was conceived and it is in this environment that it thrives.
Social Graces Etiquette is an exciting hands-on, interactive life skills and etiquette program to teach the importance of good manners. The program increases children’s awareness and self confidence by teaching crucial dining and social leadership skills that play a large part in their development.
We are now organizing our summer classes in the Jupiter Abacoa area. The 1st – 7th Grade Boys & Girls class will start on June 16th and the 6th – 9th Grade Girls class will start on June 13th. These classes will include topics such as dining, telephone etiquette, thank you notes, introductions, self presentation, social skills, modeling, hair/make-up and much more! Each class is limited to 10 boys/girls and the sessions run 6-8 weeks. Additional sessions will be scheduled throughout the summer. Check out our website at www.SocialGracesEtiquette.com.
