In Palm Beach County, the 10th largest school district in the nation, parents, teachers and students are no strangers to the increased social, behavioral and academic issues within our schools and with our students and the day-to-day challenges that arise as a result.

So how can you help a child with learning, behavioral, and social problems? The answer is closer than you might think.

To address these challenges, coming to Palm Beach Gardens is Brain Balance of Palm Beach Gardens, which is scheduled to open in mid-September. Brain Balance provides a unique research and neurological based supplemental program for students. Each student’s individualized program is a non-medical and drug-free approach to overcoming the challenges of ADHD, learning disabilities, processing disorders, Asperger Syndrome (now considered a part of ASD), and a host of other childhood learning and developmental issues. The integrated approach focuses on the whole child and combines physical and sensory-motor exercises with academic skill training, healthy nutrition, and confidence-building. The program goes beyond the traditional approach of managing symptoms.

“I believe what truly sets us apart as a program is in addition to being a fully integrated approach that gets to the root cause of why your child is struggling, we also provide the support for the families as the child is with us and beyond their program. I don’t know of another program that is a family’s backbone to get their child to where they need to be. I love being a part of that support system for a family”, says Mary Baker, Director and Board Certified Cognitive Specialist.

Mary Baker joined Brain Balance Achievement Centers in South Carolina almost 10 years ago after a career in education. As an educator, she was disheartened by the lack of academic, social, and behavioral gains with the children she taught due to the lack of focused solutions based on each child’s needs. Since then, helping children achieve their full potential by focusing on each child’s unique needs has been Mary Baker’s authentic purpose. Joining her on this mission are Desi Scianno, Program Director, who brings 20 years’ experience as a teacher, coach, and counselor in Palm Beach County and Shay Smith, Assistant Director, former Early Childhood Educator and Family Experience Specialist. Their combined expertise and knowledge coupled with the positive outcomes Brain Balance has had on over 30,000 children across the nation, they are ready to serve local families. They live by their mission: “We have one goal: Your child’s success!”

The family-owned center is located in the beautiful new Alton Plaza and will be run by experienced Center Director, Mary Baker. “I am thrilled to be a part of bringing the Brain Balance program to the families of Palm Beach County. I understand how frustrating it can be for parents to watch their children struggle with behavior, academics, or social skills. At Brain Balance, our passion is being able to help children by giving them the tools to succeed at home, in the classroom, and throughout life. I look forward to restoring your child’s confidence in themselves and hope for your family.”
