From the backyard to the beach, Girl Scouts has a long and storied history of getting every girl outdoors. Connecting with the outdoors in a girl-led setting is a big benefit of belonging to Girl Scouts – especially when studies have shown that girls today are not spending nearly enough time outside! When girls get out in nature they develop leadership skills, build social bonds, become team players, and are happier overall.

Girl Scout resident or their NEW day camp provides a safe environment for girls of any age to explore all they can do while developing important life skills. Although unnerving at times, more so for parents than their daughters, resident camp is a place for girls to learn responsibility and strengthen skills free from external pressures. This is a time for campers to build their confidence and independence in a place where they are empowered by their peers and camp staff to try new things. And day camp is a great way for girls to enjoy all the camp fun while still being able to go home at night.

They invite girls from all over to get with the program and join them this summer at their beloved Camp Welaka property in Tequesta, Florida. They’re lucky to have 640 acres of beautiful property right next to Jonathon Dickinson State Park where girls can spread their wings and create life-long memories. Their camp facilities include a combination of both platform tent and cabin sites, a lodge, and an activity and dining center equipped with a commercial kitchen. They also have a pool, lake, and multiple hiking trails.

This year at Summer Resident Camp they will explore the Wizarding World of Welaka with themed programs and traditional camp fun including crafts, hiking, water sports, and making new friends! Their Wonders of Welaka day camp is also open to any girls ages 6-17 where they can explore three different themed weeks focused on STEM, art, and water.

They’d love to help more girls experience the outdoors by joining Girl Scouts. There are endless outdoor badges designed and chosen by girls, for girls and they offer many outdoor activities at Camp Welaka throughout the year – including their summer resident camp.
