Ithaca is located in upstate New York in the Finger Lakes Region. It is home to Cornell University and Ithaca College. It is a town known for its funky vibe, good food, and art, and is located in an area known for its natural beauty. Ithaca has that welcoming feeling of a town you already know but have yet to discover, and is set in an area that upon exploration, has such beauty that it will take your breath away with each new turn. 

This summer, my husband and I found ourselves in Grand Rapids, Michigan for about 48 hours. This beautiful little city is situated on the Grand River and is located 30 miles east of Lake Michigan. I have always been enchanted by winter wonderlands and I love the idea of taking a trip each year for my kids to experience winter, winter wonderlands, and seasonal events around the country. I asked friends and fellow Macaroni KID publishers across the U.S. for suggestions on wonderlands to add to our bucket list. I wasn't disappointed.

I have always wanted to travel to Mexico, but the idea of a stop on a cruise ship or an isolated trip to a busy beach resort, while appealing, was not what I had in mind. Traveling with children is challenging, at best. I will do anything to get my children to behave while traveling; so if that means handfuls of Christmas-themed chocolate, fluorescent orange, finger-staining snacks (don’t judge) and an inadvisable Playdoh set, so be it. For that reason, you can imagine my panicked state when I realized that I was about to board a plane this weekend WITHOUT a package of wipes.

I recently had the opportunity to spend a couple of days in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Kentucky, you ask? Yes, Kentucky! Bowling Green is already known as the place to go if you are a Corvette enthusiast, but what most people may not know is there is a ton of things to do for families. We had 48 hours of non-stop fun in this family-minded, community-oriented town. There is something for everyone in Bowling Green- just check out everything we did!

Every November, hundreds of "pirates" invade the beautiful Cayman Islands to celebrate its buccaneering history with an array of fun-filled, family-friendly festivals and events. In its 39th year, Pirates Week is now a month-long event with activities ranging from a swim meet and a 5K race to several street parties, fireworks displays, parades, a Children's Fun Day and Heritage Festivals. So pack up the kids and your family's best pirate costumes, and prepare to have a swashbuckling good time. 

Growing up, my family took annual ski vacations and I have the most wonderful memories of those trips. 

Now that I have children of my own, we try to take at least one ski vacation each year and I hope that my children are making their own wonderful memories.

We love to ski over here at Macaroni Kid, but we also know that it can be a pricey endeavor. Factor in lodging, lift tickets, equipment rental, lessons, and food, and the price goes up and up. Grandparents seem to already be clued into the value of traveling with their grandkids. The 2019 U.S. Family Travel Survey found that 37 percent of the 1,168 grandparents surveyed said they were likely to take their grandchildren on a skip-generational trip in the next three years. We stayed at Hawks Cay for the first time a couple of years ago when we were looking for an upscale, family-friendly resort within driving distance. For that trip, we had six adults and six kids (ages 0-11) to please, so we had to get it right. I was so glad that a friend recommended Hawks Cay. So, when I found out that our annual Macaroni KID top publisher trip was to Hawks Cay this year, I was beyond thrilled to go back!

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Riviera Nayarit region in Mexico. Nestled in the center of the west coast of Mexico, between the Pacific Ocean and the emerald green Sierra Madre Mountains, Riviera Nayarit is nearly 200 miles of pristine coastline, luxurious beach resorts, quaint historic seaside towns, and stunning natural beauty. Mexico's newest and lesser-known beach destination, the region of Riviera Nayarit, is not only beautiful, but flavorful, and colorfully rich in culture, history, and art, and was exactly what I was hoping to discover in Mexico. There were two stops on our itinerary, the W Punta de Mita beach resort and the lovely town of San Blas. 

I love food and I love discovering new restaurants. And, when I travel, I love learning as much as I can about the history of the area I am visiting. But how often do you get to learn the local history of the area in which you live (unless you grew up in that area that is)? Living in Florida, we have zero opportunity to ski. And up until this year, my children, who are four and eight, had never seen snow.
